CURRENT NEWS and ANNOUNCEMENTS

I may have to rename this group CinemaSound Down Under
The Australians are the ones that are making this site great, which is just fine with me. Keep up the good work and continue to enjoy everyone's participation here.

The Marshall HD LCD monitors are decent. Not as good as similar Panasonic HD LCD monitors in terms of colour, but for your purposes I'm sure they would be sufficient. We bought a Marshall LCD monitor for our field producer on a shoot in San Francisc…

checking in on CinemaSound

Well, this is my first appearance back at CinemaSound in many months. It is nice to see that there are a few who are still participating in this network. Just the other day I put up jwsound.net - the Discussion Group on facebook, again, as an alternative to my regular Discussion Group forum. We have pretty much reached the limit of what can be done in a forum style group so I continue to explore what we might be able to achieve with facebook or CinemaSound in the future.

Activity here at CinemaSound

I do check in with CinemaSound, it is my creation of course, but not as often as I used to. There is not a lot going on here, that's for sure, but I hope that those who are participating are having a good time. It does not look like CinemaSound will ever take over from my regular long running Discussion Group at jwsound.net and that's okay... it was only an experiment, this Ning network, and it is what it is. I have no intention of taking this… Continue

Discussion Group meltdown

I was quite traumatized by the malware attack on my Discussion Group. I realize that I have a high sense of responsibility to keep the whole thing running properly. It is very disconcerting when things happen that are so far out of one's control. Fortunately, with the help of my good friend Laurence Abrams, we were able to diagnose the problem and figure out a course of action. There were so many files infected - affected that the most viable solution was the do a complete restore from a previou… Continue
