CinemaSound from jwsound.net

dedicated to those who do sound for image

Hi,

I just joined the group and would like to introduce myself: I'm a post sound designer, mostly for advertising, but aside from the field recording I do for my side of the biz, lately I've been doing production dialog recording for some of my ad clients. For that, I apologize to all you real production mixers out there. I tried to tell them I don't really do this, and they should hire one of you, but they don't listen. What production sound I do is mostly low(er) budget stuff anyway. Nevertheless, if you don't mind me asking some questions about production audio from time to time, I'd appreciate it. I'll be happy to share from the Post side of things, in case you don't get any feedback from guys like me.

I've got a quick question: what do people use for EQ on set? I can't seem to find any solution that isn't a Sonosax/PSC mixer or some studio gear that really isn't suited for the outdoors. I'm trying to avoid getting too much exclusively production gear since I won't use it often enough. I'm trying to find things that can be just as useful in the studio or field recording, as for production sound.

BTW, couldn't find a good profile photo, so I used the next best thing: a shellfish/cell phone salesman.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Cheers,

Neil Uchitel
