The ugly 12 hour day 4 Replies

Thought I'd open this rant because here in commercial land we've been getting far too many calls with the added "oh, and we need you on a twelve hour..." That's usually followed by the "I know you ...

Wild Track 2 Replies

I like my sound world in commercials. I hate to whine. But I must. A sad reality of Prod Snd in commercials is wild track. I'm not talking about needed, prudent wild track. I'm talking about WT aft...

Hey guys I'll hang out more but right now I have to get to bed. Have an early call tomorrow. Right now I am loving commercials seeing as how slow films are.

So Skeet, what part of Australia? Tell us something about the commercial biz there. A few of my director clients shoot in your part of the world regularly and always seem to be happy with the experience, although the flight's a killer. Good crews, production, and services?

Hey Bruce,
Sitting here on stage with an Oreo eating baby elephant. He's very cute, but the poop smell awfully strong!

Hey Don, welcome to our little corner of the blogosphere, where the stop watch is god and the directors tell the actors how to read a line. And ain't it grand!

How right you are Bruce. They have $$$$$ issues like all of us. Some even see the humor of it all, but not many.

What seems telling to me is how many "A" list commercial directors are bottom feeding for the kind of spots that they would have laughed at not so long ago.

Hey Wolf. You know what they say... when the other guy is out of work, it is a recession. When you are out of work, it is a depression... To me it seems that Prod Co's are putting 2 shoot days into one. We used to do 4 or 5 day long jobs all the time. These days same work jammed into 2 or 3 days. So far though, it feels like the last 3 recessions I have been through.
