I have been trying to deal with this "complicated" story for 8 years. Usually I run into ADD and just ignorance when I start to explain this. Some of the more experienced producers, able to use a calculator, get it. They hate to have to think and pl…
Not a rant, this is insightful analysis for us all. I am just wondering where the $63.14/hour for the mixer comes from ... that's more than I make working on movies well over scale. Have I been looking at the wrong contract?
Bruce, I know the calls... Hate them as well. I try to preserve the Boom rate and say something like I will discount something on the 'Gear' side of the bill. Most seem afraid of that, but some bite. Gotta try.

Thought I'd open this rant because here in commercial land we've been getting far too many calls with the added "oh, and we need you on a twelve hour..." That's usually followed by the "I know you can't because your rate is already the minimum but y…

Thanks Bruce. I have done way to many songs for the love of it, but thats how it is... "Hey Tina" seems to be in the top 10 for my friends. I have had 4 days off and I am backing up data to new drives and I came across the original ProTool files for this song. I never bounce down to mp3, but that is the format for Cinemasound so it is a chance to hear my mixes in mp3. Gotta say I thought 16bit 44.1 was a bummer compared to 24bit. Oh well, this was a fun joke we did out of boredom on the set one day in about 3 hours. The other two songs we took some time to do.
Bruce, much thanks for bringing me here. I hope to look around real soon. Does it make me a bad boom operator, if i sometimes think that I'm busier when I don't work???
