OK...OK...I'll go first !!
I started at Channel Nine, Sydney, on Feb 06, 1964. This makes me a very old bugger half way through my 46th year as a sound professional. My sound training started on a Mole-Richardson platform boom (a larger version of…
Hi Chris
Around $500 I think..
Haven't got mine yet as I wanted a Ta5f attached to it instead of the adapter, and Lemac had problems and broke the mic..
Suffice to say, i'm getting the next one with the switchable adapter and the ta5 plug on.
It is…
I just bought one from Ross at Lemac, just waiting to get a TAF5 connected to it
They have an interesting sound, sounding very pleasant under clothing..they seem to have a mid dip somewhere, but it's not unpleasant, although it doesn't really sound…
Hi All,
Saw a thread on RAMPS mentioning da-cappo microphones which are Australian made.
http://www.da-cappo.com/product.php?PID=1
Does anyone know of them? Apparently the mics are nearly as small as Countryman B6.
Regards,
David.
Hi Chris
I also enjoyed this show. Des Keneally was the location recordist, and I think he is an Oscar winner (or nominee) for "Storm Boy" in the 80's. I met him briefly in Gawler 6 years ago when I inherited "McLeod's Daughter's" from him.
I had n…
Hi Skeet,
I have been using Lectro IFB on Block 26 for the last 10 years without any problems. However, my experience with older Lectro 200 series radio mics suggests that Blocks 21 and 22 are absolute shite in Sydney. My 411a units are in Block 29…
I recorded a lot of the Sydney interviews for this feature-realease doco. As I am a very old bastard, it turned out that I had worked on quite a lot of the films discussed in the interviews. During the 80's, when the 10BA tax incentive was thriving…

Hi David,
That's funny Scott was just here talking about this guy he meet in a Cafe that new me, then my wife says 'Oh yeah a guy put some up on the sound forum'.
Anyway yes his name is Scott and he works for 'Audio Products Group', training for Biamp.
Underbelly is going OK. It's unexplainable. I like it. We are getting some really good stuff and other days you just get a cup of coffee, sit down and call speed. I suppose we've all had days like that.
Wow... and I thought I was the really old fart here... I have been mixing for 40 years, yikes, so you've got me by 6 at least. I hope we meet up in person some day but for now we'll just stay in touch in cyberspace
Welcome, David, I didn't even see you sign up here. It's great to see all my friends joining this Aussie Sound group. I may have to change the name of this site to "CinemaSound Down Under" --- just kidding, of course. I actually don't like that whole phrase "down under" --- how do the real Aussies feel about that? It reminds me of how no one who lives in San Francisco ever calls it "Frisco" but everyone else does.
