For those who haven't heard, Mark Turnbull, one of Australia's greatest First Assistant Directors died on the weekend. He was vastly experienced and was an enormous help to sound departments. He will be sadly missed by all film workers.
I'll post fun…
Its sad to lose such a good employer Stu and it's sad for the viewers as well. My wife has Tivo'd every ep in the last 12 months. It's got a large and loyal following. I presume there was a valid commercial reason for pulling the plug, but it's not…
Rob I think range may be an issue with a Bluetooth IFB . I spoke to Rick a year ago an he was guaranteeing a 10 meters range for his prototype Camlynx. Great for most field applications especially ENG but not adequate for most IFB applications.

My contribution won't enlighten anyone Steve but I chose 27 by sticky-taping a list of blocks to a wall and (in a considered manner) chucking darts at it. I'm very grateful you guys are asking the questions and sharing your hard won research with us…
Hi guys. I've just joined. Rob Stalder mailed me about this marvelous site in early May. I tried to join back then but the sign-in page rejected me. A dialogue box said my personal details weren't interesting enough. Anyway always 24bit because you…
I received a email from a fellow by the name of Fergus Grady. His resume has a credit for crewing with you on 'The Knowing' as an assistant. I might have a short feature job in Melbourne in the next couple of months, in your opinion would Fergus be suitable choice and have the shills for a position as Boom Op?

Yes, but that is a different Neil to Neil Salter who runs Custom Audio Cables. Seriously Bill why don't you set up your own Fed Ex receive/repair/.return system for all the Lectros in Australia.
I was appointed official repairer for Lectro products way back in 1998, shortly after leaving ASC. I never sent one system back to the factory as they were so easy to fix at that time. I pulled the plug on that arrangement as it was totally lop-sided. The dealers got all the money and I got all the problems. Having been screwed once, I wouldn't rush back to that deal again. Best decision I ever made was to get out of it as it led to the agency rights for Audio Ltd. Surely Lectrosonics would want their products well supported here and they must be worried that Neil has pulled up stumps.
I sincerely doubt that. Too long a story for this medium. When you are back in town next, why not ring or drop in for a coffee? Hope speak to you soon.
I haven't heard from you for years. Last time we spoke, perhaps three years ago, was on the eve of a feature in Melbourne.
Just caught up with Peter Mega (via this site) after 6 years. It has been 12 years since I left ASC and neither Peter nor I have kept contact with the old crew. Neil Salter being the one exception.
Great that Rainier has established this forum as ramps is so US-based, and full of spam, it's a minefield to navigate through it.
Hope things are going well with you and you're getting loads of work.
