Just wanted to add to this. Just got done with first week of shooting with 2 RED's using my 702T as master clock (free run) and jaming both RED's with Ambient ACL 202CT's. These worked great, locking up the footage in post was a snap.
I've done a few Red shoots now, last one was a low budget film with two reds on set. I'm glad I did run a dual system after listening to the podcast lol. At the time of the shoot though both reds had a newer version software, not sure about hardware…

I tend to agree, the few Red shoots I have done I have always treated it like film and used the 744 as the primary sound source. I also had issues syncing TimeCode to the Red, so again made the 744 the Master and jammed TC to a Deneke Slate for good…

The ACMA issued a "Variation To Frequency Allotment Plan" in December 2007 to accommodate Digital Radio which indicates 174 - 230 MHz which is VHF Band 3 (Channels 6, 7, 8, 9, 9A, 10, 11 and 12).

Given the level of uncertainty in this area your method of block selection seems to makes the most sense.
