Hi Skeet,
I know we've all had nightmare locations as far as sound goes!
I recently worked on a show which is currently on air. One of the locations was at St Peters, directly under the flight path. The planes were so low, you could see the tread ...
Hi Skeet,
There was a similar post on RAMPS some time back. On that occasion, it was some form of noise being generated on set. The sound recordist spoke to those responsible asking if they could relocate it or 'tone it down'. They laughed at his ...
Hey Skeet,
Had the pleasure of working with Gerry Nucifora a couple of weeks ago. His skills with wiring talent and the art of coffee are unsurpassed.
Hope you're well mate, all the best.

Hello Terry, I started a group called 'Aussie Sound' and I would appreciate it if you might consider joining the group and inviting any other Aussies you might know. Regards Rainier
Skeet, about 1 out of 25 jobs I get asked if I can do it alone. I explain how with sync sound jobs we need the team. I try to educate them as for the reasons why. I turn them down with as friendly of an act as I can and wish then luck. I see it coming more and more though as $$$ gets tight. I do sound fx and wild track gigs 1 man. Hope all is good in Oz as you head into your fall season.

Skeet, I made a mistake in my last post. 63.14 an hr is the base rate. Gear is 700. for the basic package. rf mics and headsets are ala cart. DVD Rams are 20. It will vary from guy to guy here in LA, but most are at this rate, Always day rates, no weekly.
Skeet, we have the same hourly structure. 8 straight, lunch 1/2 or 1 hr, time and a half till 10 hrs, double time after 12... Same deal as yours. What is different is our base rate. 58. something an hour. Basically 700 for 10. Yours sounds better, but I know zip about exchange rates. It is all good from my POV
Skeet glad things are cool. Things are tighter in LA commercial production these days. We are getting by well enough cause I have been in the game a long time and am well known, but for some of the newer guys, this is their 1st recession and it follows a number of boom years, so for them it may be rougher. I am shocked that your basic day is/was 8 hours. We are guaranteed 10 and usually work 12 or more. If I ever get down that way I will look you up and buy us a few beers.. Until then... Cheers

Hi Skeet. Nice to see someone from another commercial market here. It's a global business after all. Welcome.
Hey Terry, or should I call you Skeet? There is an old Polish joke over here... "Know how they make commercials in Poland?... Just like we do."... Just wondering how that world plays out over there in Oz? Hope the fires stay well away from you and yours. Welcome to the group.
